Suprise at the women Eurobasket 07

September 29, 2007

If you have followed the Eurobasket Championship in Chieti, Italy, you probably know that the Czech Republic is one of the only unbeaten teams and a favorite to win it all. So the Czechs went on the Germans who only won one game so far. Nobody really expected something from the Germans around WNBA players Linda Froehlich and WNBA rookie Martina Weber.

What a good chance for Germany to show everybody that they do belong to the best teams in Europe since nobody expected anything from the young team. I am sure nobody expected Germany to have 25 turnovers and still win the game right? But if you consider that the Czech Republic only shot 30% from field you would even give an underdog a little chance. I just found out that even the German womens national team started a blog – it is in German though.

This win doesn’t mean anything if Germany won’t win one more game. They will take on Turkey on Sunday to advance to the next round.
