Tony Parker at the Finals

June 14, 2008

For the French fans, the current NBA Finals are of course less interesting than recent years, as San Antonio has not qualified. And the brief appearances of Ronny Turiaf won’t change this. But Tony Parker will be at the Finals, as a spectator, in Paris.

Well, tomorrow will see the French league (LNB) final between SLUC Nancy and Chorale de Roanne, a rematch of last season’s championship which Roanne won to qualify for Euroleague play. SLUC Nancy has now reached the finals for the fourth consecutive time without a series win.

So Tony Parker has announced that he will be in Paris tomorrow with wife Eva Longoria to watch the decisive game of the French Championship, where his brother TJ Parker will be on the court. The game on the court will be hard but for some fans, and the matchup in the stands between Longoria and Chera Leigh, girlfriend of Roanne’s Marc Salyers, will be at least as important.

So with the whole Parking Family reunited in Paris this weekend, should Nancy finally win the championship, the entire clan will party like it’s 1999. (Or 2003, 2005 or 2007.)
