Where are they now? Doron Jamchy (Israel)

November 11, 2007

Today, I will talk about probably the best Israeli born shooter of all time Doron Jamchy. The 1961 born guard was an important member of the Maccabi Tel Aviv triumphs in the late 80s and early 90s.

Jamchy, who is the all-time scoring leader in the Israeli league was known for being a shooter with unlimited range and incredible scoring skills. He won 11 championships but unfortunately, he never won the supreme European title with Maccabi reaching several Final Fours but never going for it all.

After his time with Maccabi Tel Aviv, Jamchy play three more seasons with Maccabi Rishon before signing a last contract with Tel Aviv to end his career in 2000. He scored 4224 points in his career in Israel and 3187 for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the different European competitions.

After his basketball career, Jamchy started to become a business man in Israel. He never had some coaching or GM ambitions, and started to invest. He founded a company and named it after his two daughters, Dana and Maya. The company is dealing mostly with Real Estate in but also outside of Israel. He is also investing as a private person and seems to be very effective in this area, the same as he was in his shooting percentages.

Jamchy is also a member of the board of Maccabi. He is a good friend of one of the owners, Raanan Katz. He is representing Katz’s interests on the board. And finally, some people still suffer from Jamchy’s shooting. In fact, Doron is a member of the Maccabi Veteran team and as fit as in his best years.

And to see his incredible range, check this old-school Top 5 countdown where Jamchy was at the Top spot.
