Miss Italia plays basketball!

Well I have to be honest – 3rd place of “Miss Italia 2007” plays basketball. Her name is Ilaria Capponi and plays some good basketball in Italy. She is on the roster of the first division team Virtus Viterbo.

Hedo's new website

Players start blogging and start their own official web sites – what a blessing for the media. Next one is Hedo Hidayet Turkoglu who just released his official web site. I guess he expects his fans to speak Turkish since there is no English version available yet. But is Hedo really that devoted to his […]

Basketball vs. Culture: the new rivalry in Lithuania?

Today I read a nice article on the Austrian News site OÖNachrichten about the capital of Lithuania and its preparations for the year 2009, where the city will celebrate it’s 1000th birthday. But in that year, Vilnius will also be the European Capital of Culture. What this has to do with basketball…

??

The Euroleague is about to get better and better. I was lucky enough to attend the Euroleague Final Four in Athens last year so I am really excited to see what else the Euroleague is about to do. Everybody just thinks about the NBA when the Celtics, Raptors and Grizzlies are coming to town but […]

What to do after college?

Now what does this really have to do with European Basketball? You are probably right – nothing. Except the thing that I just watched WWE action on sky in Italy. I love sky. That is the only thing that I can really understand since you can watch all movies and sports action also in English.

DKV Joventut wins Lliga Catalana

Lliga Catalana? Yes you read it correctly. In fact, every year, and this since 1980, four of the best ACB teams from Catalunya compete for this symbolic but highly important trophy. This year, the four teams (DKV Joventut, AXA FC Barcelona, Akasvayu Girona and Ricoh Manresa) played in Badalona.

How Americans call our stars: Pow! Ga-Soll

The NBA published a guide how to say the names of some NBA Players just to make sure to avoid any problems. Now I think it is really funny to read especially when you are from one of the countries where you really know how to say the name. Europeans already know that Americans just […]

Italian NT coach to stay

If you open an Italian newspaper today you can read this in the sports section: “During the past weekend, the Italian Basketball Federation Board agreed to confirm coach Carlo Recalcati as the Senior National Team Head Coach and Main Player Selector for the upcoming two seasons, together with all his staff.”

New trend?

Julien talked about it and now it seems to be a bit of trend. The European players are about to leave the NBA. After the rumors about Sarunas Jasikevicius we got some news about Sasha Pavlovic (Serbia), Peja Stojakovic (Serbia) and Andre Kirilenko (Russia).

NBA Europe LIVE

I really feel sorry for all NBA fans in Turkey. But then I must say thank you to the Boston Celtics. If you know now that the NBA is coming to Europe again this year (October 6th – 11th) with the Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, Toronto Raptors and the Memphis Grizzlies you know why.

The future stars of Eurobasket 2007

The Eurobasket 2007 that just has finished featured some great prospects and future stars. I will come up here with a short review of the most outstanding talents that were present in Spain and that will probably have big impact in the next years on the European basketball scene.

From Russia with Love

I am sure by now everybody got Russia on the basketball map again. The real “insiders” always knew that the big money was and is in Russia (I guess you don’t have to be a big insider to realize that, when one of the best guards in Europe plays for CSKA Moscow).
