End of an era as Zalgiris Kaunas formally announces resignation of Mad Vlad
All signs indicate that it’s the end of an era, but it just doesn’t seem real. Yesterday, a patriarchal figure over one of Europe’s most prestigious and historically significant organizations officially stepped down from his high post as observers speculated about what millions of followers could expect next. No, BallinEurope’s not talking about this guy, […]
Harlem Shake spreads to NIJT Belgrade tournament: Alba Berlin, INSEP players succumb
Aaaaand here’s another for the collection. After the Nike International Junior Tournament in Belgrade closed yesterday, two of the tourney’s youth teams added to the phenomenon overtaking European basketball clubs daily, namely the irresistible urge to perform the Harlem Shake. Without further ado, here are the Alba Berlin and INSEP ballers succumbing to the craze.
Introducing BallinEurope 2.0
Welcome to everyone visiting BallinEurope.com today, the first day in the rest of the life of the website. The most obvious design change is of course our revamped logo, featuring Arvydas Sabonis from those glory days of Lithuanian basketball in the early 1990s and current-day Olympiacos team leader Vassilis Spanoulis. But not only is the […]

Sharrod Ford and company present the Harlem Shake (Brose Baskets Bamberg On the Bus Remix)
A disappointing and anti-climactic Euroleague loss to Zalgiris Kaunas last week may prove that this year’s Brose Baskets Bamberg are no Globetrotters, but they still show a little bit of Harlem. Check out Sharrod Ford (native of Washington, D.C.) leading his squad in a brief go at that Harlem Shake. Guess those bus rides in […]

Messina on Teodosic: “I’m no Dr. Frankenstein”
Just because the Euroleague is off this week, it doesn’t mean the media is closed for business and CSKA Moscow leader Ettore Messina gave international news a little to chew over during the bye. On Zalgiris Kaunas and developing Clutch Identity
After watching Žalgiris Kaunas stumble through heartbreakers and possible backbreakers in the Euroleague Top 16 round, BallinEurope’s agent in Lithuania, Y., couldn’t help but confirm his suspicions about the Greens’ performances in crunch time. Y. probably wasn’t, but you may be surprised at the secret culture of losing within the Lithuanian power… It’s almost unreal, […]

We think the Sabas vs. Spanoulis logo represents BiE’s interest in European hoops both present and past, […]
