How Americans call our stars: Pow! Ga-Soll

September 24, 2007

The NBA published a guide how to say the names of some NBA Players just to make sure to avoid any problems. Now I think it is really funny to read especially when you are from one of the countries where you really know how to say the name. Europeans already know that Americans just have their own pronunciation for anything and just think it is the way it has to be. So try to say the names out loud please!

Here are some of the best names:

Andrea Bargnani AN-dre-a BARN-neon-ee
Jose Calderon HO-zay CALL-der-own
Jorge Garbajosa Hor-HAY Gar-BA-hosa
Rasho Nesterovic RAH-show Neh-STARE-oh-vitch
Uros Slokar OO-rose SLO-car
Beno Udrih BAY-no OO-drick
Darko Milicic DAR-ko MILL-a-chich
Hedo Turkoglu HE-dough TURK-a-lou
Marcus Vinicius va-NEE-shus
Bostjan Nachbar Boast-john Nock-bar
Pau Gasol Pow! Ga-Soll
Sarunas Jasikevicius YES-uh-KA-vi-shus
Vassilis Spanoulis Va-SILL-is SPA-new-lis
Dirk Nowitzki na-VIT-ski
Viktor Khryapa Veek-tor KREE-ah-pah
Martynas Andriuskevicius Mar-teen-es An-droo-SKAV-ih-chis
