Bricks, snickers and root canals: The week in Twitter

October 23, 2010

BallinEurope thinks he’s in love … with Twitter. (Yes, BiE knows he’s behind the times for this relevation, but still.)

And so, for no better reasons than idle amusement and trying to justify a bit too much time spent over on *that site*, BiE presents a look at some of the top basketball-related tweets of the week. Enjoy the link-laden goodness!

First of all, let’s welcome a certain Dallas Maverick to Twitter. (BiE congratulated him for landing the lead role in Tron: Legacy, but doesn’t think he was amused.)

One great use of Twitter: A chance to instantly show your new tattoos to thousands of folks at once – it’s a great timesaver. What does BiE think? Sweet!

Another fantabulous thing about it: It’s educational. Like, did you know Josh Childress is actually a two-sport star?

And it seems it takes an Argentine to teach Americans a little something about Italian cuisine.

One of the most prolific European twitterers is Omar Samhan. Omar’s most philosophical post from this week gets the nod; BiE’ll try and overlook the irony of any basketball player seeking positivity from metaphorical bricks.

BallinEurope’s unofficial man crush for 2010-11 is Martynas Pocius, so BiE’s including this one. Plus, anything that elicits a link to this gets in.

How tough is Coach Calipari at University of Kentucky? Maybe Enes Kanter doesn’t necessarily want to play for this guy…

The good ol’ Sports Guy indulges in some schadenfreude on Hedo Turkoglu’s account…

Incidentally, the YouTube link Simmons references is “no longer available”, so below runs another copy.

Poor King James (yeah, surrrrrrrrrrrrrrre). Just a few days after showing some of the intensely negative and neanderthal-level insight he’s often subjected via Twitter, the mass media took some (face it) more than slightly incendiary comments of his and ran with them. This Lebron tweet therefore still feels a tad shallow to most, for sure.

Finally, Carmelo Anthony and Luis Scola show they know how to handle hecklers. (Snickers – bwah ha ha ha!)
