Beşiktaş heating up, gets Hemofarm in Eurocup tonight

A tough one for Allen Iverson and his Beşiktaş Cola Turka tonight, as the Eagles take on KK Hemofarm Stada in Eurocup basketball play tonight at 6pm CET (noon EST). The Serbian team could clinch a spot to advance to the “Last 16” round thanks to tiebreakers.

Beşiktaş is coming off a win Saturday in the Turkish Basketball League (TBL), 96-75, against Antalya. Iverson did not play.

(EurocupBasketball) – KK Hemofarm Stada and Beşiktaş Cola Turka square off this Tuesday at the Centar Millenium with their options still wide open to play in the Last 16. Hemofarm is second in Group B at 2-2 after losing last week to Goettingen and could qualify for the Last 16 with a win combined with an Asvel loss to Goettingen.

Hemofarm will also be looking to break a two-game losing streak against Beşiktaş, who still has one game pending after the loss to the Group leaders was reviewed. Beşiktaş currently stands at 1-2. Forward Milan Macvan carried the load for Hemofarm last week, scoring 17 points, while steady point guard Miljan Pavkovic added 12 and Milos Borisov and Marko Sutalo followed with 11 and 10, respectively.

Hemofarm has plenty of depth at the three spot, with Borisov and Boris Savovic, and sure-handed Ivan Maras is a guarantee in the middle. Beşiktaş has new life after netting its first win of the Regular Season, as Cevher Ozer scored 15 and Serhat Cetin 12 to beat Asvel. The inside trio of Ozer, Fedor Likholitov and big man A.J. Ogilvy at center will pose a concern for the hosts this week, as Hemofarm tends to play more uptempo than the power game Beşiktaş can employ.

With Sutalo a long-range threat and versatile Mustafa Abdul Hamin offering quality minutes from the guard spots, Hemofarm head coach Zeljko Lukajic’s team hopes to offset Mire Chatman and Allen Iverson’s perimeter firepower, with Michal Ignerski also meriting attention at the forward spot. Iverson didn’t break double digit points last week, but has been improving in all areas since his arrival to Beşiktaş, while Hemofarm will look to better play from center Jerome Jordan and good game management from playmaker Pavkovic in his head to head matchup with Chatman.
