Iverson wants out? Nope, says Twitter feed

December 6, 2010

Talk Basket may have started a wee bit of kerfuffle in Allen Iverson’s camp this weekend when the website stated point blank that “Iverson wants out” of his deal with Beşiktaş Cola Turka. Reads the entire shinola-stirring entry:

“Allen Iverson has been criticized for his mediocre performances and the bad results of Besiktas, since the day he arrived and it is rumored that he already mentioned that he wants out.

“The Answer’ reportedly expressed his disappointment regarding the chemistry between the club and the fans, yet does somebody really believe that this is the real reason?

“So far, Iverson averaged 12.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists, with a mere 35.4% in 2-pointers, in three Eurocup games (the game against BG Goettingen is to be replayed).”

The rumor went somewhat viral, making the rounds of a few basketball sites. In any case, Mr. Answer himself shot the seemingly unsubstantiated claim down on Twitter with a series of messages showing little more than positivity regarding his European vocation thus far.

Posted between 12.25 to 12.26am CET on Sunday morning was the following run of tweets.

What’s up everybody? I want all of yall to know that I am very happy here in Istanbul. My family and I are making this our home. The fans

and my Teammates here are great, and we are building good chemistry. For those of you who really care about be just know this, I am very

pleased and I am enjoying this ride! God Bless.

For those of you who care about me, just know that I am very pleased and enjoying this ride! God Bless.

So, geez, you vulture types, if A.I. can outwardly show optimism, why can’t y’all? (Incidentally, who exactly has been criticizing A.I. since his arrival? Publicly not major American or Turkish media, Besiktas players or coaches … so who?) Seriously, it appears as though Mr. Answer will be on these shores for awhile yet…
