BiE’s book I Like it Loud is finally on sale

October 18, 2019

You may have noticed activity on this site has been near non-existent since the end of last season. BallinEurope editor Emmet Ryan had a book to finish while also dealing with his day job. Things got crazy but it’s finally available to buy, in ample time for the holiday season

Back in Munich airport last November, with my luggage gone on a magical mystery tour without me, all I really wanted was to get my hide to Bamberg for a beer. I didn’t make it before closing time that night but it was over those few days where I went from “I may write a book” to “I’m writing a book” as the first six stops of the journey into European hoops were made those winter days.

The plan was for the book to come out a touch earlier than this, just the 7 or 8 weeks earlier to be precise, but the small matter of my day job deciding now was the time for me to head up a redesign of the magazine I edit came out of nowhere. I could either make the self-imposed deadline and not have a good enough book or I could punt covering* the FIBA World Cup and get it done during it.

*By covering I mean from home, I’d already decided I wasn’t going in person.

I went with the latter and I’m hoping you enjoy the finished product. I Like it Loud follows me on my travels through the season but dives into plenty of stories from the recent and not so recent past in European basketball, along with my enjoyment of local beverages. Meeting a lot of you, the people that visit this site, really helped make the journey more enjoyable and definitely made the book better.

Right now it’s only in print but an eBook should be ready sometime next week, I know Amazon shipping isn’t great to some locations. Naturally please support it as much as you can, tell your friends etc. If you have any questions, hit me up here or on Twitter.

If you have a podcast or want to ask me any questions about it for a written piece, feel free to hit me up as well.

Oh, and, before I forget. You can buy I Like it Loud: A basketball tour through Europe here.
