CSU Asesoft Ploiesti routs Lietuvos Rytas in Eurocup

October 23, 2014

It was a memorable night in Ploiesti, the oil capital of Romania as CSU Asesoft got a convincing win at home against Lietuvos Rytas (103-83) in group E of the Eurocup.

The Romanian champions had a great start, jumping into a 30-11 lead and the Baltic side could never get close the rest of the way. It was quite a surprise to see the two times Eurocup winners being routed in such a fashion. Most people were expecting a close game, especially after Rytas defeated Partizan by a score of 92-65 in the first round.

The home side point-guard Dee Brown lead the hostilities with a double-double 18 points and 14 assists. Brown did a great job getting everyone involved with all Ploeisti’s players scoring in the game with of five Asesoft line-up hitting double figures.

Brown also had an impact also defensively, snapping 4 rebounds. The American looked unstoppable, running at everyone and getting everywhere he wanted on the floor. At one point Brown did a crossover that misguided not only his adversary but also his teammate Labovic. Gerald Lee dominated under the rim scoring 19 points on 9 of 9 shooting. Antanas Kavaliauskas, was not able to stop the big guy from Finland.

For all of this, Rytas put up a solid defensive effort. Their ball pressure and full court pressure was intense. This shows in the rebounds category where Rytas had four more rebounds than the Romanian side.
Juskevicius and Oerlik kept the team from Vilnius in the game with 20 points and 17 points respectively but it was not enough to stop Asesoft, who shot the lights out from three point range making 14 threes on 50 per cent shooting.
