Do your civic duty and vote (for the Euroleague All-Decade Team)!

January 18, 2010

Time for basketball fans to do their duty and vote. Luckily, though, we’re not talking the sort of election involving political newspeak and double-talking, but a vote to form the Euroleague All-Decade Team.

This week, Euroleague.net will publish the list of its own 50 nominees to the 2000s team and, beginning on Friday, January 22, the Euroleague official website will be launching a ballot so that fans may vote.

And please, post here to let us know who you chose for this virtual Dream Team.

Official Euroleague release follows the break.

(Euroleague.net) – As Europe’s pre-eminent club basketball competition marches dramatically in the heart of its tenth season, fans and media alike are invited to take part, during the Top 16, in a very special survey to name the Euroleague All-Decade Team!

Hundreds of players from dozens of clubs having taken the court at Euroleague games since the first one, on October 21, 2000. At the same time, millions of fans around the globe, in person and through the media, have enjoyed how those players have helped grow Euroleague Basketball into a unique and exciting competition that is appreciated world-wide.

Now, Euroleague Basketball invited both fans and select media to have their opinion counted to decide the very best Euroleague players of the decade.

A total of 50 nominees have been selected by Euroleague Basketball. Starting after the Top 16 Draw, the nominees will be revealed, 10 per day, on Euroleague.net. When the list of 50 nominees is complete, on Friday, January 22, fans may begin voting for their 10 favorites on Euroleague.net. Fan voting will last throughout the Top 16. At the same time, the top basketball journalists throughout Europe will be asked to give their expert opinion on the best players of the decade.

When the fan and media voting finish at the end of the Top 16, the 10-man Euroleague All-Decade Team will be announced.

Celebrate all the great basketball seen since the turn of the century by helping to name the Euroleague All-Decade Team!
