Euroleague Final Four: the arrival

May 2, 2008

So finally, I am in Madrid. I came in this morning on a flight from Italy with approximately three Siena fans, so the fan support for Mens Sana is not huge. The guys told me that there will be about 600 tonight in the arena. I directly went to the Magarinos Arena to check a few youth games before heading to the hotel.

The Nike International Junior Tournament is the must-be for every NBA scout. You see probably the eight best youth club teams in Europe in one arena. And so the number of NBA representatives is impressive. It’s also a nice place to see some former glories like Sarunas Marciulonis or Roberta Duenas among others. In a cozy and nice gym, you can easily say hello to all the other people, which will be quite more difficult later on in the immense Palacio Municipal.

I will come back with a more in detail report about the NIJT in the next few days when I’ve had the time to see every team. For now, I just want to let you know that BallinEurope headquarters is, until Monday morning, in the Room Mate Hotel Oscar which you can find very centrally localized in the Chueca area.
