Euroleague signs deal with Turkish ministry of culture

April 10, 2015

Euroleague Basketball has announced a partnership of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Here’s the statement from Euroleague with all the details:

With the one-of-a-kind launch pad at the Final Four basketball party set for May 14 to 17 in the Spanish capital of Madrid, the family of Turkish tourism brands will have as a platform the biggest stage for basketball on the continent.

The new partnership comes at a moment when basketball and the business opportunities surrounding it have experienced consistent growth in the Turkish market at the same time that the country’s clubs have been doing an excellent job both competing and growing their fan bases to their biggest numbers ever. In fact, two clubs from Turkey, Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul and Anadolu Efes Istanbul, have qualified for the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Playoffs and will be fighting for a place at the Final Four. It marks the first time in the 11-year history of the playoffs phase that two Turkish teams will participate, while Fenerbahce is the first Turkish team ever to do so with home-court advantage.

For the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the accumulated audience of 1.8 billion people who see Euroleague content, including growing numbers of fans in countries like Germany, Russia and France, offers a synergistic customer base for the world-class destination that is Turkey.

The agreement will debut in style at the Final Four with Turkish tourism brands taking on a strong presence in all aspects of the event, but especially at the Final Four Fan Zone, where the ministry will have its own basketball court at which to stage engaging promotional activities for the public.

With the signing of the partnership, the parties are committed to thorough cooperation to pursue initiatives for the growth of their common interests together for the Final Four and in the future.
