First blood to Zalgiris

October 19, 2014

The clash of the big two in Vilnius ended with a win for the visitors as reigning LKL champions Zalgiris Kaunas won 82-84 against Lietuvos Rytas.

The LKL season, which is pleasantly sane this year, saw it’s first clash of the traditional powers on Sunday as Zalgiris Kaunas went to Vilnius and came away with the W in a close one.

The home side held a narrow 35-31 lead at the break before Zalgiris stepped up after the break. The deficit was down to the minimum going into the final frame before the Kaunas club finally pulled through to take the narrow victory.

That result moves both teams to 6-1 for the regular season. Neptunas is the lone remaining unbeaten on 6-0.
