The 35 Greatest Basketball YouTubes of All-Time: Nos. 16-20

July 22, 2010

BallinEurope brings another five pages on YouTube you’ll be wanting to bookmark as the 35 Greatest Basketball YouTubes of All-Time countdown continues. As always, the rules used in creating the masterwork of minutiae may be found here.

And today’s first clip needs no introduction, but BiE’ll give one anyway. To wit:

20. The worst foul call ever. Speaks for itself, really. Starring who else but Joey Crawford?

19. I don’t know if this is truly “The World’s most amazing Basketball Shot,” but after watching approximately 156,362,708 YouTube videos in preparation for this piece, BiE can definitively say this is the best buzzer-beater of all-time:

18. Drazen Petrovic vs. Oscar Schmidt, 1989 European Cup. From the YouTube description: “Legendary match in which Oscar Schmidt’s 44 points for Caserta are not enough to defeat Real Madrid led by Petrovic’ incredible 62 points.” A real treat for Americans, who can see the greatest ever never to play NBA ball against he whose NBA career was cut so tragically short.

17. One of the greatest phenomena on YouTube is the recut movie preview. BiE believes that this Space Jam Trailer is the best in the genre since the immortal Shining.

16. Arvydas Sabonis rare highlight clip. The quality on this clip may not be so great, but hey, this video nearly cost the maker his life, having been smuggled out of the communist Soviet Union at great risk to personal well-being. I’m kidding, i think.

Tomorrow: Tune into the BiE TV for clips 11-15 starring Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje, Manute Bol, the Dream Team and Vince Carter. (Yes, that means Fred Weis’ll probably be in there, too.)
