Marquez Haynes, dunksmith of France

November 23, 2010

Days later and the internet is still loaded with chatter about Blake Griffin’s monster dunks perpetuated against the New York Knicks this weekend (okay, so they were pretty badass buckets), but rookie Marquez Haynes of Chalon/Saône may be making himself a name as the dunksmith of France with some insane hops in evidence lately.

Haynes, who once explained Barkleyesquely upon his transfer from Boston College to University of Texas at Arlington that “I’m a basketball player first and foremost, not a scorer,” temporarily disproved the latter contention with a 19-point effort – and two long-distance flights – against Paris-Levallois on Saturday night.

Check out Haynes’ serious jams by clicking here.

Of course, the former UTA Maverick’s stint as Air France representative will come as no surprise to NCAA hoops fans who caught Haynes at the 2010 NCAA dunk contest in his All-American Honorable Mention senior year in Texas.

So Haynes may never make you forget Griffin, but BiE thinks a dunk contest between ol’ Marquez and Shannon Brown should be scheduled immediately.
