Real win, Baskonia lose, and the rest of Sunday’s pre-season action

It was a busy Sunday for Euroleague clubs in pre-season action. The headline win came for Real Madrid who took the Euro-American Cup title with a 79-67 win over Guerreros in Bogota. Saski Baskonia however went down in their game at the same tournament with a 79-78 defeat at the hands of Penarol.

After losing to Asvel Basket on Saturday, Barcelona bounced back with a comfortable 93-57 win over Pau Orthez in Castelnau-le-Lez. The Blaugrana stormed out to a 17-2 start and never looked in danger.

Reigning EuroCup champions Valencia won 80-73 against Zaragoza in an all-Spanish friendly while Euroleague newcomers Nizhny Novgorod fell 67-66 against Murcia.

Panathinaikos suffered a 77-74 defeat at the hands of Banvitspor while CSKA Moscow were edged out 60-59 by Aris. Fenerbahce enjoyed a 75-67 win over Cedevita while Zalgiris Kaunas took a bath against Khimki, falling 90-64.

Bayern overcame the challenge of Telekom Baskets Bonn 88-82 in an all-German affair while their fellow Bundesliga competitors Alba Berlin beat Darussafaka 75-68.

Olimpia Milano went down narrowly to Cantu, 79-78, while newcomes Neptunas lost 82-66 against Lietuvos Rytas. Finally PGE Turow Zgorzelec beat Gravelines Dunkerque 81-77.
