Reasons Why Europeans are Likely to Switch to the NBA

June 2, 2020

When the time comes to kick back and relax, there’s nothing better than putting your feet up in front of the TV and settling down with your favourite sports.

Different sports are popular in different parts of the world. In the US, sports like football (soccer) aren’t as popular as they are in Europe, as they tend to prefer sports such as: American football, baseball, and basketball.

Speaking of basketball, the NBA (National Basketball Association) is gaining traction outside of the US, as more and more European countries are embracing the sport of basketball.

When you consider the fact that some of the world’s most elite athletes have graced the basketball courts, including a certain Michael Jordan and the late Kobe Bryant, it’s easy to see why basketball is proving to be such a hit outside of the States.

But what are some of the main reasons why basketball is doing so well in Europe?

Let’s find out, shall we?

The internet is helping the NBA gain exposure

The internet is a truly miraculous invention and to say that it has revolutionised the modern world would be a vast understatement.

Without the web, life as we know it would come grinding to a halt.

Thankfully we have the web, and as a result, this has helped the NBA to cross the pond into Europe.

Thanks to the internet and social media, NBA players have been able to market themselves and push their brand overseas.

With the NBA getting more exposure online and on social media, and with NBA stars showing off plenty of charisma, Europeans have become fans and have started avidly following the NBA.

Great betting opportunities

In the United States, even though sports betting isn’t anywhere near as big as it is over here, it’s safe to say that the NBA plays a key part in the sports betting markets.

For people that fancy following an exciting sport, and hopefully winning a few Euros in the process, the NBA is a fantastic league to follow.

Rather than betting on the football, many Europeans are instead betting on the NBA through sites like this and on teams such as the Chicago Bulls, the LA Lakers, or the New York Knicks.

More people are playing basketball

As well as watching basketball, more and more people in Europe are now playing basketball in their free time, and are having a fantastic time in the process.

Because they enjoy the sport, they’re then doing more research and naturally they come across the NBA and instantly become fans.

It’s awesome to watch

If you’ve never watched an entire game of basketball before, you simply must.

It is hard-hitting, fast-paced, exciting, and the athleticism on display is awe inspiring.

The sport is simply fantastic to watch and as it gains more exposure in Europe, people are sharing clips online and recommending it to friends and family members, and it is simply going from there.
