In midst of monster season, can Sofoklis Schortsanitis get more fans than Nickelback?

January 2, 2011

BallinEurope posts this in hopes that a zillion more YouTubes like it…

In the midst of his career year with Maccabi Tel Aviv, BiE fave Sofoklis Schortsanitis is probably accumulating Israeli fans by the thousands daily. BiE doesn’t have any actual hard numbers on the latter, but as for the former, so sayeth the stats:

Euroleague – 10 games, 13.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 steals, 0.8 blocks per in 22:13 minutes.

Ligat HaAl – 11, games 12.8 points on a crazy 66.7% field goal rate (is Big Sofo ever actually shooting the ball in Israel?), 5.5 rebounds in less than 20 minutes per.

Said it before and BiE’ll say it again: Guess all Sofoklis needed was to be disrespected by the Los Angeles Clippers, wash out of the NBA summer league, get a chair chucked at him by Nenad Krstic, and a move to Maccabi…

In any case, let’s cut to the chase. Or rather, to the ‘Tube, for a nice Schortsanitis mix. For those impatient with post-emoesque Nickelback stylings and/or not getting the diet of Big Sofo muscling and dunking you expected, go to about 0:40 in.

And hit ‘em right between the eyes!

He weighs what. . .330 lbs? If he lost 40-50 lbs he’d be an NBA all-star. He’d be like a far-stronger prime Elton Brand.
