The BallinEurope playoff roundup

June 3, 2008

The race goes on in the major European leagues and the champions are soon to be known in most of the leagues. So here we are with another update of the most important leagues.

In Turkey, Fenerbahce is close to winning the title in the BEKO League. Despite great scoring from Khalid El-Amin and Erwin Dudley for Türk Telekom, the team Istanbul managed to win in Ankara 96-94 behind a fantastic team effort with 5 guys in double figures. Ömer Onan showed that he can do something else than defend and hit 5/11 three pointers and Omer Asik used his mintues to grab 14 rebounds and give some boost to his Draft status. The series will continue tomorrow Wednesday in Istanbul.

In France, Roanne and Le Mans will play their second semi-final tomorrow. Le Mans won the first game at home. The other series is already one game further. ASVEL will go back to Nancy for a decisive game to reach the Final. Lamayn Wilson was in the zone as he hit 7 out of 11 three pointers in just 24 minutes of play.

In Spain, the the champion may be known already tonight as TAU Ceramica is up 2-0 against AXA FC Barcelona. Both teams will face of in Vitoria tonight at 22h00 CET. Vitoria won the second game in Barcelona this weekend behind a great game by Pete Mickeal who scored 20pts and grabbed 6 rebounds.

In Germany, at least on semi-final goes to the 5th game. Telekom Baskets Bonn won tonight at home against Frankfurt Skyliners and there will be a showdown on Thursday in Frankfurt. The officials from Bonn also announced today that this game was the last one in their legendary Hardtberghalle. This also means that if Bonn qualifies for the Finals, they will play in their brandnew Telekom Dome. The second series ended with an away win in a thriller by ALBA Berlin in Oldenburg and the team from the German capital will play for the National Championship and Euroleague spot.
