The Nets train somehow still holds NBA betting value

It says a lot about the historic troubles of the remaining field in the NBA playoffs that even those at the top of the ladder look far from sure things. That will provide nervy moments for fans but serious opportunities for bettors.

The Brooklyn Nets lead the latest championship odds but, at +110, they aren’t going to scare away bettors. Through the first two games of their series against the Bucks, this being the Giannis ‘Greek Freak’ Antetokounmpo loaded Bucks that is, they have absolutely dominated. Even for Milwaukee, this isn’t a huge surprise as the Nets have put together an utterly ludicrous roster built to win a championship, the first in the history of the franchise and the first in any major sport for Brooklyn since the 1955 Dodgers.

The other side of the East has been dominated by Trae Young who has lifted the Atlanta Hawks past a resurgent Knicks and now are in a heated battle with the Philadelphia 76ers. The Nets should love this because the Hawks, +2000, and the Sixers, +1000, are likely to exhaust one another before running into a fresh Brooklyn juggernaut in the conference finals.

Things only get better for the Nets when the conflicts in the Western Conference are taken into account. The Suns, +1000, hold an earlier series lead over the Nuggets, +2000, but with Denver having Nikola Jokic leading the line this one screams of another drawn out series. The same can be said for the clash of the Utah Jazz, +383, and the Los Angeles Clippers, +450. Then, the winners of these two rounds are destined for another long, long, series that will drain all involved.

Normally, at this stage of the season, I’m still looking a little down the betting order for value. There is really no need to right now. The Nets are at a tremendous price as things stand and whoever faces them in the Finals, barring a shock exit for Brooklyn before that stage, will still be at a price which will allow for some arbitrage.

Be smart, just back Brooklyn.
