Two massive threes decide yesterday’s games

June 12, 2009

The European playoff series are coming to an end, and the playing levels increase. So it was no surprise to see some massive three point shots deciding games this week.

First of all, the big surprise comes from Germany, where Telekom Baskets Bonn defeated ALBA Berlin in front of a new playoff record crowd of 14,800 in O2 World. Bonn had up to a 20-point advantage in the game in the second quarter behind 90% shooting from behind the arc at a certain moment. This incredible touch also featured a huge three-point hit by Winsome Frazier from nearly mid-court. You can see it in the video below at 2:10.

It was the moment in which Bonn made its decisive run, having then gone 7-for-8 on threes for the game. Two consecutive bombs by the before-mentioned Frazier, and Vince Yarbrough increased the lead to 20 and the amazing 9-for-10 on long distance shots.

In Spain, it was Italian sharpshooter Gianluca Basile who decided Game 1 of the ACB finals with a 8-meter three-pointer two seconds before the final buzzer on an offensive rebound tipped out by a teammate.

I can’t wait for the next one…
