Uleb Cup Final moves to Italy

October 30, 2007

After being the host for several season, Charleroi is not anymore the place to be to watch the Final of the ULEB Cup. In the, it has been decided to move to Italy for a 4 day event that will feature the top 8 teams in a sort of Final 8 that will be played in Torino.

The local Palavela arena will welcome the eight best teams of the ULEB Cup regular season in a tournament that will be played from the 10th to the 13th April 2008. The last several seasons, the Final has always been played in the Belgian city of Charleroi which featured already some great moments of atmosphere, especially in the final that featured Aris Saloniki as you can see on this clip.

Due to this new event, the format of the ULEB Cup changed also. But unfortunately, the official press release does not explain who will qualify exactly for this Final 8 as there are 9 groups of 6 teams and according to the ULEB Cup website, the best 8 teams of the regular season qualify for Torino. Maybe we will get some more explications about this in the next days.

Why always changing the rules ?
    8 teams ?
    No play-off quarter-finals ?

    How can people understand .
