I know, every Blog got this – and we wanted to be different (damn it we failed already!), but what do you do with funny notes or short news that you want to tell? Starting this week we will present you our “cigarettes”, at least this is something new in the blogosphere, right?
- This week started the ACB league and traditionally, the ACB Supercopa is played one week before. You can find the Top 5 plays of this tournament right here and you will see some impressive dunks and maybe on of the last plays of James Singleton in Europe before his injury.
- With the presence of some of the most promising Prospects in France, it was no surprise that some NBA scouts were present in Le Mans this weekend. However, Adam SIMON (Miami Heat) and Massai UVJARI (Toronto Raptors) had not chosen the best game to scout Nicolas Batum, Antoine Diot and Alexis Ajinca. It was finally Ajinca who finished the game as top scorer of the three youngsters with 2pts in 6 minutes of play.
- Jeff Taylor did a great coverage for FIBA Europe of the Women Eurobasket 2007 in Italy. You can find all his different Interviews here. After the Bronze medal game, he was interviewing the very surprising third placed Belorussia right after their game against Latvia. The team also featured one of the most promising young Centers in Europe with Anastasiya Verameyenka who is the younger sister of Washington Wizards draftee Vladimir Veremeenko. The final has been won by Russia who defeated Spain in a very close game in the final minutes. Amaya Valdemoro was named MVP and joining her on the all-tournament team were Latvia sensation Anete Jekabsone-Zogota, Belarus playmaker Natallia Marchanka, Russia center Maria Stepanova and Russian forward Olga Arteshina.
- Basketball is not always fun as a report about the Baltic League game between Valmiera and Zalgiris told us today. Apparently, there have been some incidents with Zalgiris fans that used some pyrotechnical objects in the gym which was not much appreciated by the local security. According to the IBN forum, three Zalgiris players came back to the court after the game to deal with the security which had buckled one of the fans. Images of this scenery can also be found on the Latvian website esports.lv.
