Preview – Greece vs Great Britain

September 4, 2022

It’s the fifth day of EuroBasket 2022 and the third day of action in Group C in Milan. The middle game of the days is Greece taking on Great Britain

Where and when?
Mediolanum Forum, Milan, Italy. Tip off: 17.00 CEST, 16.00 BST, 11.00 EST, 08.00 PST

Record to date
Greece 2-0 (W v Croatia, W vs Italy)
Great Britain 0-2 (L vs Ukraine, L vs Croatia)

What do the bookies say?
Greece are borderline unbackable at 1/33 while Great Britain are 25/1, which are better odds than Buster Douglas had against Mike Tyson. The point spread has been incredibly volatile on markets here but all because bookies are unsure how many points to give Greece. At present, Greece are -24.5 favourites on most markets.

What do we say?
Great Britain beat Greece in a World Cup qualifier this year but that was a very different looking Greek team to the one taking the floor on Monday. With Britain having lost by over 20 points in both of their opening games, they now face the most destructive force in Group C and it’s going to get ugly.

I expect Giannis Antetokounmpo to play reduced minutes but that won’t save the British. There’s a score to be settled here and this one is going to get very, very, ugly.

The pick
Greece with the points. Yes, even with a spread that big. This one is going to be violent.
